Being an artist means making the choice to live life as a creative process. An intent to connect with, be inspired by, be propelled and pushed by, and be a kinetic element of LIFE by shaping the process of living, growing, and change in ways that comment upon, enhance, inform, and glorify beauty. Honoring a concept of inclusive awareness, I have found the quest and journey of making art by integrating movement, music, language, visual/plastic art forms, and the natural world.
Always in motion – shaping and impacting upon space, my awareness of myself and my environment interacting, have compelled me to choose dance as my primary form, while uniting dance with music, theatre, and the visual arts. Consistently arising issues in my works include JOURNEYS, VERTICAL SPACE, ORGANIC SPIRAL FORMS, CONTRASTS OF SPIRIT (GOOD/EVIL, ALONE/TOGETHER, JOY/GRIEF, CHILD/ADULT) and FORCES OF NATURE.
I traveled constantly in my youth, lived upon a tropical island, danced: ballet, modern, hula, tap/jazz, ballroom, musical theatre, made music: flute, piccolo, piano, guitar, ukulele, bassoon, voice, loved sports: swimming, biking, tennis, soccer volleyball, track, cross-country skiing, loved creating with my hands: oil painting, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, and theatre: alternative, musical.
I am an explorer – I thrive on change, I seek adventure, learning, new lands – inward and out.
